Our Long Summer Holiday
What can we say …’WOW, WOW, WOW’ springs to mind first. The Villa is lovely and spacious. Chania is beautiful and Michalis and Aleca are two of the nicest people you will ever meet in your life. You really can’t do anything but fall in love with Chania. The lovely local food, the friendly people, the views are just breathtaking. We really will be back. The pool is a welcome relief on a hot sunny day; in fact it was hard to get the children out of the pool.
Stavros Beach is nice and tucked up the back Zorba’s does some nice local food.
We tried many tavernas and had a few favourites but nothing came close to the gorgeous meal Michalis and Aleca put before us – simply yummy – a fantastic cook.
The service you get here is the best in the world, you really feel like you are in paradise. In fact I think we were. Where else would you get an endless supply of melons, tomatoes, grapes, lemons and prickly pears, I will miss prickly pears and recommend you try some – lovely.
Do try Xampa (Pink Steps) the food is very nice and has a variety on the menu to suit all tastes.
I look forward to planning our return here. The children enjoyed making friends with other children and we especially enjoyed the company of young Michalis and we hope he remembers us when we come back. You really won’t have a better holiday anywhere else.
Hire a car, venture out and enjoy the views, the food, the places and most of all mingle with the local people. We really hope you have a wonderful holiday. If you have children do visit the water park about 25 minutes drive away. It is a great fun day out and opposite the water park is a go kart track.
Lastly, our thanks to Michalis and Aleca for making us so welcome, and thanks for their generosity. You will always be such special friends and we look forward to seeing you again.

The spirit of Catherine Secker holidays lives on because Michalis and Aleca have provided us with a holiday that matches/exceeds the four other holidays here. True, there are just the villas/apartments on the estate at Michalis’ home, but we always chose one the of the Aleca apartments. Attention to detail in the apartment is still present and Michalis and Aleca’s hospitality is ever present. For example our Monarch flight was delayed 9 hours at Gatwick yet there was Michalis at Chania airport at 2am to greet us and take us to the villas.
Car rental arrangements were simple, as before. If you choose to fly into Heraklion then transfer arrangements, we believe, are different. We far prefer to use Chania airport even if we are restricted to Tuesdays.
We found a few changes – there is a concrete path at the rear of the Aleca villas to replace the gravel. There is a television in the apartment (mostly Greek channels) and there is an unfinished single storey building about 50 meters in front of Aleca 3. It is meant to be a Mini Market but apparently the owner has run out of cash to complete it. A lot more building on the Akrotiri in 12 months, but we love the area. For us a car is essential because we like to travel.
We enjoyed eating at Sun Set (Tersanas) Elena’s Garden taverna (Stavros), Kalathas Beach taverna and Pink Steps (Kalathas). There is useful shopping at the nearby Chorafakia supermarket and the Inka at Konoupidiana. There is also a bank ATM at Konoupidiana.

While enjoying the magnificent sunset from the balcony, the only thought that springs to mind is when you would be returning back to Crete. What one can say about Michalis and Aleca, their kindness and warmness make you feel like a part of their family. Michalis junior brighten your days with his gorgeous smile.

We have enjoyed our stay in your villa very much
Everyday we have had the spectacular view of the ocean in front of us. We have been swimming a lot both in your ince pool and the local beachl.

After last year, how could we not come back?
Only main difference this year is that we've spent most of our beach time at Stavros-which is such a beautiful setting I never want to leave its clear waters and mountain views....And finally a plea to all new residents here- look after the very sociable ginger cat. He is adorable and I wish I could smuggle him home!

Talking of Michalis and Aleca, they are the real stars of this operation. Without them the holiday would still be great but not quite as special as it was; nothing is too much trouble and they are as generous and curteous as always. Crete remains a special place and these villas are special too. We'll be back!
